Here are some great walks around Leicestershire to explore!
#1 Bradgate Park
Offering footpaths to keep those paws clean and help grind those nails down or explore and head up to Old John to take in the breath taking scenery of Leicestershire.

#2 Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill is a great walk to get the blood pumping, rising to the height of 245m its one of the highest points in Leicestershire and boost spectacular views of Charnwood Forest and the Soar Valley. Steeped in history Beacon Hill is a site of special scientific interest with great archaeological find.

#3 Swithland Woods
217 acres to run riot! The wood is Leicestershire’s most important ancient woodland for nature conservation. Quarries within the wood were a source of the distinctive Swithland slate used for roofing and gravestones. With lovely clean streams running throughout it’s a firm favourite!
Opening Times: Open throughout the year during daylight hours, closes at dusk.

#4 Burrough Hill
Burrough Hill is an Iron Age fort between Somerby and Burrough villages. It is a prominent land mark in the area and ha long been a place for public recreation, with stunning views for miles around. Situated on the Leicestershire Round there are several footpaths going off in all directions for lots of exploring in four paw drive! There’s lots of livestock grazing on Burrough Hill, please air on the side of caution and keep dogs on leads. Opening times: daily 7am – dusk, £2.50 pay and display. Please have correct change.

#5 Foxton Locks
Great for those inquisitive pup as there’s always lots of activity here! Part of the Grand Union Cancel Foxton locks is famous for its flight of 10 locks and also The Inclined Plane – a pioneering boat lift from the early 20thcentury. There are pubs and a café which all have dog friendly areas. Please remember to keep your pups on a lead as there’s lots of wildlife around and the locks are busy and deep!
Opening times: 11am – 8.30pm
Post code: LE16 7RA. The Top Lock Car Park is a long stay car park and costs £2.00 per day. The Bottom Lock Car Park is for shorter stays and costs £2.50 for up to four hours and up to 8 hours costs £4.00. Both car parks are pay & display.
